I have a weakness. It just so happens that weakness is a four letter word: salt. My body craves it—in droves. No doubt it’s trying to tell me I have an iodine deficiency. So eating an entire bag of chips in 15 minutes or less has become a sport of sorts. I find salt difficult to resist.
Our bodies have a unique way of telling us what they need… as long as we slow down long enough to listen. I became curious… what else was my body trying to tell me? To find out, I ventured to the nearby Salt Cave for a quick detox via my first ionic foot bath.
9 Benefits of Ionic Foot Baths
After getting cozy in the overstuffed recliner, I was instructed to place my feet in the empty basin that began filling with warm saline water. Next came the ion water module. The attendant handed me a card that notes the the various colors that may produced in the water by newly removed toxins as well as the area of the body from which the toxins were pulled. That’s when things got real.
Fifteen seconds into the bath the water began to turn yellow. I’m told this is typical of the coils reacting to the salt. What happened after that was inexplicable. I couldn’t take my eyes off of what was happening. In a matter of minutes the water had the appearance of mud. I saw white cheese scurge, the water bubbled and my toes began to tingle. According to the chart, the brown hue comes from the liver and cellular waste products. The white coloring indicates issues in the lymphatic system and the cheese-like particles indicate problems with yeast. The bubbling indicates that my lymphatic system successfully underwent a cleanse.
The real story appears once the water is drained and the residues remain in the basin. Dark black flecks appeared indicating iron and metal removal as well as dark green particles indicating the presence of gallbladder toxins. There it was… all of the toxins resting at the bottom of the basin. A humbling experience, particularly since I pride myself in living a cleaner life. Perhaps those toxins had been lingering in my body from previous C-sections, medications, air pollution, plastics, EMFs and countless other offenders.
Immediately following, my feet felt baby soft and my muscles a bit achy similar to post-massage affects. But another ‘side effect’ took a tad longer to surface—something unexplainable. I no longer craved salt. I wanted to crave salt. I put the kids to bed, stood in my pantry and stared at the bag of chips on the top shelf willing my body to want some… even just a handful. I had no desire. The cravings ceased for weeks. Apparently my body is telling me that it requires ionic foot baths at least every three weeks. Body, I’m listening.
How do you slow down enough to listen to your body? What is your body telling you?
